Hey I'm thinking of going Asia in January just wondered if anyone knew any good routes to take I want to cover , Thailand , Malaysia , loas and cambodia. Any info would be useful also if anyone is going around that time let me no would be good to have a chat.

I think you should try to plan a route that avoids too much backtracking. I assume you will fly into BKK and will suggest a route.
After time in BKK, head north and visit the and areas of northern Tland. Into Laos, tour, then into Cambodia. , down to Phnom Penh, perhaps some beach time in Fly out of PP to KL on . Tour Malaysia, cross back into Tland via bus or train. Beaches down south, back to BKK, fly home.
That is one option, others might have a better idea. Good luck with your planning.

You don't say how much time you have? Malaysia will be the most expensive followed by Thailand. Cambodia and Laos are dirt cheap, but probably the most rewarding, in my opinion.
If you have less than a month, I recommend Thailand and Laos only

Everybody spends money on what is important to them. All budget advice here will just be a guesstimate. Some days on the beaches of Sihanoukville will cost less than $20 total. Rooms under $8, food for the day under $8. Cheap, but this will not be your daily average.
I would budget roughly $1K/month while in SEA. You convert to GBP.
You may find reading trip reports on travelblog.org helpful in planning a route as well as things to see and do etc.

I'm a 27 year old solo traveller, and am planning a similar trip. My plan at the moment is to roughly follow the route in the attached link: http://www.myfunkytravel.com/backpacking-route-south-east-asia.html well as far as the islands anyway! May just head from there to Australia, haven't fully decided!
I'm also trying to plan when I will head over there, it will probably be either November, or Jan/Feb - my start date will probably depend on if I can find someone to travel with. I'm a bit nervous about travelling on my own (particularly starting on my own!) so would be really interested in travelling with some one else! Feel free to send me a PM if you would be interested!
