I was hoping to stay there until the new year as its meant to be amazing so everyone is saying its worth staying there until then. I also have a working holiday visa so maybe about 3 months then move on doing the east coast.

Yeah, will be staying in Perth for around 6 months working and travelling then maybe moving onto Melbourne. Not applied for my visa yet tho!!
I have also heard Sydney is amazing for New Year. Have you planned where to go after that?

Sounds a good plan, no I haven't planned anything much to be honest as one of my friends has been and he said that once you get there your plans change so just go with the flow.
My friend is going in september to sydney but I don't think she will be where I am still so will meet up with her at some point, but as I'm arriving 2 months later not sure where she will be.
Visa is really easy to get and very quick too!

Me and my girlfriend are going oct 1st for 12 months Planning starting in cairns then working our way round the coast to melbourn then up to darwin. Never been oz befor and will need to work. Amy , have you sorted out work or are you gonna find some when your there.

I arrive in Sydney on the 16th staying at same hostel as you until 26th then heading to melbourne. Travelling alone, but going to see family and friends whilst out there too! Im going for a year and hoping to see as many places as possible as well as getting a bit of work!

Hello! I will be going to Oz in January next year, 2013 that is, and will be staying for 1 year. I will start out in Sydney. I've looked into the UltimateOz program and OzIntro, but they charge huge amounts. 800aud for the UltimateOz, is that worth it? I just feel like I can get the bank account, TFNrs, get everything sorted by myself, I just want to make sure to meet some cool peeps, and that seems easy with the programs mentioned. And you'll get to see the city and learn more about it. and get answers to any qs. and on and on. But, at the same time, 800 aud.. I will maybe have 3.5-4000aud, so throwing 800 on a week.. Seems a bit.. Wasteful?

Hey Amy, nice to see someone else is takin in the wonders of New Years celebrations in Sydney. I'm working my way up from Melbourne to Sydney from October to December then I'm gonna chill their or on the outskirts for a month or so, maybe work a little. Then Headin up to Cairns over the next few months to literally just realx for a loooong vacation before heading over to Thailand for a mad one then home.
Hey, me and three friends are doing some travelling starting in October and will be headiong to Sydney begining of December for Christmas and NYE - It's supposed to be amazing so really looking forward too it...
You'll be completely fine travelling alone, loads of people do it all the time so don't worry at all x
