Hi! I'm heading to Bangkok on the 31st of August and will be spending 2 weeks working my way down the South West Coast and Malaysia to Singapore. I have been doing some research about the weather and am I right in saying that it will be monsoon season while I'm there? This has added to my fears about going and just wondered if there's anyone here who has been before around the same time and can tell me what it's really like? Many thanks!
I had a cousin go to Thailand one August some years ago and she said it rained and rained. Of course no weather is guaranteed, other than Thailand being hot, but September to October is noted for being wet in the Phuket area (and elsewhere in Asia)
She spent a lot of time on a veranda reading books, up in Chiang Mai and then in Bangkok doing all the malls, Unless there is any flooding on the roads you can spend most of your time dry and undercover or nearly so in Bangkok.
Rain does not mean all day, every day and there can be a run of dry days, but it can cramp your plans. The funny thing about rain there is you can have minor flooding and then the sun comes out and an hour later you wonder where all the water went?
Malaysia is pretty open but Singapore you can stay undercover a lot.
