Im worried i will choose a wrong place to visit

Iv known i wanted to go travelling around the world for a very very long time! and well iv chosen now to make a start on where i want to go in 2014..

Hi Kirstie. Finding that things aren't what they're cracked up to be, isn't that one of the things that travel should change about you? Altering your expectations. Teaching you to travel slowly and find the joy in silly weird things.

My best travel experiences have been the small, random things that weren't planned. Part of the game is learning to enjoy the surprises that come along - if you only found what you expected then I think you'd be disappointed. :-)

This skyscanner article

gives an intro into the different airline alliances which offer RTW tickets. I'd suggest having a play and seeing what routes you can get their websites to hook together on a ticket, and then drill into the destinations a bit to figure out a few things you'd like to see in each place. And look at the fare rules to see how they treat changes - that way you can skip out of a boring place a bit early and have more time in the next country.

ahh that sounds ace, i didnt realise how much planning and preparing it takes got so much research to look into, im not even going so that i get to see something in paticular, more just the experience and people im going to meet.

On the kinda trip i mentioned above, how much money would you recommend id need if i went alone, stayed in hostels but did like activities and had a good night life lol.

Did you do it by back packing? or is it possible to take a suitcase? or is tht much more expensive?
thank youu

People talk about $100/day (after you've got your flight tickets and travel insurance). You can work out if that daily rate suits you by researching as a test some accommodation, meal costs, activity costs and ground transportation.

Countries vary in cost by a lot! Spend longer in the cheap places. Take fewer flights and linger longer in a country to keep the cost down.

I backpack, when possible. So much easier being mobile and travelling light. Not really a difference in cost. People who take loads of stuff seem to regret it.

ahh thank you for the help! hope i dont chicken out cos it wud be amazing to do! i literally want to do every continent but i think its gna be way too much money unfortunately.
ha the whole backpacking would be soo hard ha id only have room for like a few clothes i wudnt no wot to take ha! x

Fly as little as possible (saves costs and you'll see much more). You won't panic/freak out, don't worry. You will build up experience. So start in the "easier" countries such is Greece and (western) Turkey or even Thailand. Don't start in China, Pakistan, India. If you decide going to Pakistan avoid the north-west frontier province and Baluchistan. You might be hit by an American drone or be kidnapped. Just do it, don't hesitate and enjoy. The experience lasts a lifetime.
