Hi,
My question is, if you had 5 days to travel and see parts of Route 66, which places you would go to?
Here's some good info:

As one of the most famous highways in the western world there is a TON of really great information easily Googled as well some good blogs that detail the entire 4,000 km. It's an easy thing to research and some of the best remaining sections are at the west end.
Have fun.
Cheers,
Terry
Hi,
Like Terry mentioned, lots of info and the west is the best! Also for the fantastic landscapes thrown in for free. Check our article for info and links.
I drove the part between Seligman and Kingman in western Arizona and also a a part in California during another trip. And a small stretch near Tucumcari, New Mexico, an attraction of its own.
Basically that one starts south of the Mojave National Preserve and is called National Trails HIghway for most part. It goes via Amboy and sometimes almost parallel to the main Interstate (I-40). Follow it to Barstow and then south to Victorville and San Bernardino. You will find some old stretches and also some stretches which are closed and the new road is just beside the old one.
Check out some of my photos of it in my gallery, like the ones from Tucumcari and the stretches mentioned above.
Have fun!
Michael.
Here's the for an impression.
cheers

Hi, personally i would give ny a miss and just do the whole of r66. I did it on my own in 18 days, it was tiring and my sences were a little overloaded but there are 2 of you so it would be easier. You only need a couple of days for ny and with it being on the east coast the jet lag isnt too bad for you to maybe do it another time as a long weekend ?
Ive been to ny twice and find it a little over rated especially with all the sites that you could see by doing r66.
If you are on facebook there are some brilliant photos on there on the r66 pages.
Whatever you decide on i hope you have a great time.
