Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam

Hi Guys,

Hey Kirstie,

Have you already booked a one way ticket from the UK?

I usually book an open jaw return, for example Glasgow to Bangkok and returning Hanoi to Glasgow, it is much cheaper doing it this way as you get charged less tax, you do need to give a return date but just check that the ticket will allow flight date changes.

Buses and trains are a great way to travel and see the countryside and are mega cheap but they can take ages, you can also book overnight tickets so you can try and sleep and save on accommodation costs.

Budget airlines like Tiger, Air Asia, Nok air, Viva macau, jetstar, bangkok airlines all have cheap fares and do seatsales if you can book in advance.

If you go to vietnam, i would defo recommend travelling by motorbike between Hoi An and Hue over the Hai Van pass, your bag gets strapped to the back and your driver is also your guide, amazing!

Hope this helps
Dx

Kirstie,
I would book a return flight. Cheaper than 2 one ways. VN does not have many flights to UK compared to BKK. BKK as a hub is your cheapest option IMO.

Here is what I suggest. After your time in Tland, fly to HAN on After HaNoi and vicinity, travel south on either overnight bus or train to Hue. is easier, cheaper, not not as safe as however. Your decision. Most visitors stop in Hue, Hoi An, Nha Trang, Mui Ne, DaLat, down to HCMC. Of course there are plenty of other places to see that are off the well worn track. It depends on time/money what you choose to do. End up in HCMC. Then bus over to Phnom Penh. covers that leg. Now you can get some in Sihanoukville, or just head for Angkor Wat if you are beached out. , bus makes more sense IMO. Now you can fly back to BKK, or go overland. Here is a for all things Cambodia. Read over the route back to BKK if you choose overland. One long day, but much cheaper than flying. Good luck with your planning.
