Cambodian visa at Vietnam land border crossing

Hi,

Hi John,
It is possbile to get a Cambodian visa on arrival at the Chau Doc border crossing. I think it costs about US$30.

I'm not sure about the Cambodian consulate in Ho Chi Minh - they might be able to issue the visa the same day, but you'd probably pay a lot more for it. I'd recommend you get it at the Chau Doc border crossing as it's easy and cheaper.

What are you planning to do while you are in Cambodia?

Cheers

Hi Sue,

Thanks for the reply. Have you done that crossing before? Did you have any problems? I've read that a few people have been subject to scams on the border crossings; over charging etc.

I think we're going to head to Phnom Penh, Siem Reap and also head to the beaches. Do you have any recommendations?

Thanks,

John

Dear John,

I did it last year and it ran well. I spend only 2 days in PP and 5 days in Siem Reap. In Angkor city, I took 2 full days for the temples, 1 day for Bantey Srei, floating village and Tonle Sap lake, a day to cycle to Rolouse. Oop, the silk farm is very good too.

Cheers.

You might like to do some on the Chau Doc to PP section. Visa on arrival at the Cambodian border. They overcharge because they can. This is why Cambo officials want to work a border crossing. It should be $25 for the visa, but they always find a way to add extra $s.

If you want some beach time in , you have a few choices. I used to stay at Victory Hill, but it has gone downhill. There are cheap GHs there and you can walk to the beach, but I think better choice might be Serendipity/Ochhateal Beach. GHs, restaurants are walking distance to the beaches. I have plenty of S'ville photos in my gallery. I would not book anything beforehand. Go and look at the beaches/GHs and decide which one you prefer. tell you what to expect.

Good luck with your planning.

I know this might be an old topic but for future reference for anyone reading this post the current Visa charge is US $25 (plus $1 for health check) but at times border officials have asked for more I normally if you stick to your guns and have never had to pay more, Cambodian eVisa is not available at land/sea border crossings only international airports.

Cambodian Visa on arrival is available at the following international border crossings:

Moc Bai to Ba Vet
Vinh Xuong to Kaam Samnor
Xa Xia to Prek Chak
Tinh Bien to Phnom Den
Le Thanh to O Yadao

More info (including map) on each of these border crossings is available here:
