It will be quite humid and hot.
I was there a week on my own...
Had a rental car thought.
Would recommend the following:
o In Cairnes -- Go to the Big Farmers Market ... all kinds of unussual fruits and vegs.
o In Cairnes - Go to the Art Pool and Docks... even consider renting an outboard
o In Cairnes - the water front food is expensive. The mall? with many shops had
a place where you bought your meal by the plate size ... good reasonable.
o Go on a Barrier Reef Dive -- I liked QuickSilver..
I went out of Stl. George.
o Go to St. George -- Beautiful Drive -- St. George is real nice.
Went twice... good market there too.
o Got to Daintree National Forest... Crocks.. real fun... Rainforest
o The best thing I did was to WEST of Cairnes on the "Development Road" hwy 1
Mareeba , Dubula.... Termite
Only a few hours from Carines, but the real outback with bars like you read about
The best thing I did in Cairnes other that the Reef Dive.
Over the mountains... then hills and later dry...
Go to the end of the paved road.... A railroad trip runs out there several times a week
Great hotel and woman proprieter there ... Kangaroos... 15 ft high termite mounds.
Museum Ghost towns.... with not proprieter !
Stop in at a few bars ( mate)
Remember it is End of Summer in tropics...

well i arrive in cairns on the 26th and going to stay in gilligans hostel (aparently awsum place to stay) then my mate's picking me up that weekend who's already over there to up to the rainforest for a week were abouts in cairns u staying?

i bet by the time ive landed ther you will have sussed the place out, you will probs meet people in your hostel too, do you know anyone out there at all?

sooo excited but also worried cause i dont know what to exspect... only booked like 6 weeks ago just had enough of work and needed a change just going to live it up and take wat oz has to offer me.
im staying at a hostel called shennaigans ive booked my first 2 nights there other than that i dont have no plans at all just go with ay... lol
i hope ive sussed it by then cause if not i dont know wat im doing lol
i was looking at gilligans aswell looks really good there!!! i was 50/50 between them 2?
yer my sister lives out there with her bf who she met in oz last year they live in broome, so if all goes tits up i have there place to fall back on which is a bonus...
ive also got two mates travelling out there alwell so will probs meet them down the coast somewhere.
you said your going to the rain forest bet that will be amazing... where abouts it that?

only 6 weeks ago wow, yeh i booked my flight last sunday and the sunday before i decided i was going, i think iff u book nearer to the time you will feel its round the corner and by the time youve sorted yourself out, ur redy to go

the rainforest is like 60 min drive from cairns, i carnt wait to go to the great barrier reef too, its unbelivable!

Gilligans is super. It's in the same block as Rusty's Market... fruits/veg ... really unusual.
but it's just open one or two days a week... Sat ???
Get to the Gaintree nation Rainforst.
Beautiful trip along the Coast. St. George is on the way.. Great Bars etc. good flee market. Alot of movie stars have homes their.

i think your right on that one, booking closer to the time makes it more exciting as its only a few weeks away...
just looked at gilligans website looks sooo nice night life looks wickard aswell... pretty gutted to be honest with ya lol
my sister lives in broome thats NW aus, but shes moving to perth soon because it gets too hot in the summer months
the great barrier reef does look so good defo a must see! cant wait to do a dive out there and see it all!!!
wouldnt mind doing a surfing camp aswell few of my mates done a 3 day course said it was well good they put you up and feed ya aswell, but who knows... just take everyday in its stride....
60min thats not to bad at all i thought u where going to say its miles away lol

ooo that surfing camp sounds gud like, ive just had to sell my surfboard because i needed the money for oz but you know... i would be well scared of comming across a shark LOL imagine that eh, altho it would be quite kool n all!
yeh im not making any long term plans like, just take everyday as it comes and enjoy, think i want to go over to thiland 2,
my friend is comming over in june and i think i will probs wait till shes over to do all the trips and things, mayb just work a couple of months to get some decent money 2gether!
i finish work in like 7 days and i cannot bludy wait haha
