5 months in south east asia

Hi

It would be good to see Laos first - your timing would put you there at the wrong time. Every year they burn organic material starting in late Feb for several weeks - almost impossible to breath or see at those times. Vietnam would best be avoided around TET (normally early Feb, but you should check the date for 2012).

8 grand!!!

that budget will be enough, many travellers (like myself) live/travel in that region only from 10 pounds a day.

probably better to start in thailand, laos, cambodia to catch nice and dry weather.
vietnam: soutth will be good, but even in march/april in the north it might be a bit chilly, which of course it can be refreshing too
malaysia: better to go from late february to avoid rainy season
indonasia/bali: i am not sure

happy days!

Singapore is an amalgamation of many cultures and yet each culture retains its separate identity. It has an awe inspiring number of things to do. And because of the size of the country, you can choose hotels in Singapore without restricting yourself to a particular area.

Me and a friend are going to SE Asia in May and hoping for about 4 months budget travel, we will have about 2500-3 grand each. so i would imagine a budget of 8 grand would be more than enough! if not, im in trouble!!!!

Thanks for all the advice! There's so much to think about but can't wait to get going!

And kimmy, hope you have a fab time!

hi i'm from indonesia... it is also a good choice to travel by bus from jakarta to bali.. along the way you will see a lot of scenery before reaching the island of Gods.. find a travel agency normally they charge Rp 5 million for a trip from jakarta to bali by bus

Thanks! cant wait!
Hope your planning and trip goes well!
