Im travelling to Vancouver this summer for vacation, mainly to eat and play and have fun. So I would like to know the popular places to go, such as amusement parks, resorts, or any scenic spots that are worth visiting. I also want to know if there's any famous restuarants there. thanks for the suggestions
My dad lives in Vancouver and I can tell you it is about as beautiful as it gets. I'll start with the obvious, even in summer it can be rainy and cool so bring appropriate clothes.
Since you mentioned amusement parks I've got a great thing that is not for the faint of heat: the Capliano Suspension Bridge. http://www.seevancouvercard.com/attractions/capilano_suspension_bridge.html Wow, had no idea it cost $30, guess when you travel with dad these things go unnoticed if you know what I mean. But it really is amazing and I hope you check it out.
You also have to take a ferry ride to Vancouver Island and the famous Butchart Gardens. http://www.butchartgardens.com/the-gardens/
As for restaurants etc there is everything there. Gas Town is the trendy part of town that every city has, this is a good spot to find a great meal. A drive through Stanley Park is also on the list. Every night at 9:00 they fire off a cannon, the "9:00 gun". And every night my dad made us race upstairs to his telescope which was permanently fixed to that cannon. He got such a kick out of seeing the flash, then hearing the boom at his house in North Vancouver exactly 9 seconds later. After the third night we went up to watch strictly to humor him.
I've lived here all my adult life-it's a great place but also quite expensive and heavily trafficked by tourist hordes.

Restaurants we have aplenty and it's Asian food which is done best here-check out some of the that are so popular-and with good reason.
If it's high end Sushi you want then there's no better place than just a few blocks from my house in fact.Sushi is widely available and wildly popular but many places aren't run by Japanese at all and the overall quality/cleanliness suffers-choose carefully.
So called 'famous restaurants' are to avoided-I could list a couple notorious tourist traps but why bother?

Another place you might want to take a wander down is Commercial drive. It is a neat area with lots of cool shops and things to see. If you happen to be around the drive on a Sunday night the park near by called trout lake usually has fire spinners in it around dusk.

Thank you for clarifying this Sam. I knew one was cheaper than the other but when I looked at the map I got Capilano mixed up with Lynn Canyon.
OP: Forget Capilano, go to the Lynn Canyon one.
Oh and I love the fish hatchery but then again I love stuff like that.
