My 2 teenagers (13 and 15 yrs) and I will be travelling to Sydney, Brisbane and Cairns in August. Can anyone tell me, is it a good idea to stay in B&Bs? I'm on a budget but I don't want to stay in backpackers/hostels with teenagers. I did the whole backpacker's thing 20 years ago and I'm thinking that b&bs might be a better environment for kids that age.
Any tips or ideas will be greatly appreciated!

B&BS are going to be obviously more expensive . especially as alot dont offer rooms with 3 beds, which could mean you having to pay for two seperate rooms, a single and a double?
Why cant you try staying in hostels where you can book a room or dorm for 3 people so you can stay all together. surely it wouldnt be that bad. It may be a good experience for them, i know i would definitely rather stay in hostels than a b&b even if its just for the general travelling atmosphere.

Thank you for your reply.
My thinking is that the hostel environment that I remember from my travels in the 90's isn't all that good for kids that age.
I totally agree with you abt the cost but at least b&bs are cheaper than hotels.
