We have this amazing trip planned for Koh Samui, bringing along our 2 yr old as well. We're from Canada, and a little nervous about both the Tsunami risk, and the developing situation in Japan, in terms of radiation.. Is there some good evidence for the Gulf of Thailand that will calm our nerves and let us enjoy our trip?
Zeek,
I googled 'samui tsunami' and got what I expect. They have never had tsunami damage . Go and enjoy your holiday.
Considering wind patterns, you're more likely to get radiation from Japan drifting across the Pacific to Vancouver, than south to Thailand.
The part of Thailand that was affected by the Indian Ocean tsunami a few years ago was on the other side of Thailand. A tsunami within the shallower, much smaller Gulf of Thailand is unlikely.
So don't worry, just enjoy your trip.
