I'm 21, from Chicago and I'm graduating this May so I wanted to do a backpacking trip. I have about 6 weeks and I wanted to start in Panama and see as much as I can and hopefully end up flying out of Guatemala/Mexico at the end. My little sister decided this trip is too long and I'd love to do it with someone, I feel like it would be safer. If anybody wants to travel together, or will be in the area let me know!
dont get kidnapped by the mexicanos.
you wont get kidnapped unless you sell drugs. I have done the same trip starting in San Fran and working my way down to Panama, I would get a one way ticket to Panama and chicken bus/greyhound it back home, you will love it.
Make sure you see El Salvidor too, dont listen to anyone saying its dangerous, if your going to die your going to die. I would only warn you off the big cities (Mexico City, Guadulahara etc) Also, dont carry a camera in Panama city.
I would love to join you but I am off to China in April for a month so I need to find someone to let me tag along with them . Let me know if you need to know anything else

o_O have you turned the news on lately? while that might be the case for the majority, WAKE UP!
I think you are very naieve. I have traveled central AM. and most of the people are fine. However there is a lot of poverty and crime. If you speak Spanish, that will be a great help. You will be hot, sweatty and dirty most of the time. Food sanitation is non existent, so what will you do when too sick to travel? I suggest you reconsider this trip. Good luck.
