Check out the previous forum post "Starting in Cairns in September, alone!" There are quite a few of us in the same 'boat' as you!
I'd definately say start in Cairns while it's not too wet up there, when it gets to the Oz summer it's wet season in northen Queensland (the "Tropical North")

Im 23 and am going alone, starting in Cairns. Like Tracy just said there are a few of starting in Cairns, im guessing more coz of the weather! Since i have been on here i feel a whole lot better about going on my own coz i have spoke to quite a few people on here. Im going out in the begining of September spending some time in Cairns then working my way down to Sydney for Xmas and New Year! Will definately have to meet up if you do end up on the same route!

That's great, I'm hoping to meet some people on here too and hopefully see I'm not the only one who's a bit nervous! I'd definately like to do that route down the East Coast and maybe end up in Sydney for New year - heard its supposed to be amazing!
Rich, that sounds like a similar time to me, late sept/early oct. Definately up for meeting people out there!

I will be on a WHV! Although id prefer not to have to work, but that wont be happening haha! Iv booked my Hostel in Sydney for Xmas and New Year in Wake up, coz iv been told hostels book up so quickly in Sydney for that time! Ill be booking my flights in the new few weeks!
I cant wait to get out there! You'll have to let me know your plans when you decide!

The more I think about it, the more I like the sound of starting off in Cairns whilst its dry and then doing a road trip down the East Coast.
I've not booked anything yet either! hopefully going to look at flights and hostels early next month - cost of everything is a bit scary!
Rich, I'm aiming to take about £4,000 - been saving up for a while and I want to be able to chill out for a month or so before I have to get settle down and get a job he he.

Yeh i'm taking around the same plus any extra I manage to save from now! I reckon i'll need to do 4-5 months work max....well I hope thats all

Hey Im doing the My oz experience I think starting the third of October, travelling from Cairns to Melbourne. Just because Im going on my own and seems like a great way to do it. Glad there are other people in the same boat.
