Its going to be pushing it? I live in Las Vegas & everything In Las Vegas is expensive, LA & New York are no different
How much would you reccommend taking for that length of trip??
We already have all out connecting flights and accommodation booked so we would be using our money for trips/food/drink/shopping and other general....

That's $140+ per day. You can't be party animals or hit high-end restaurants, clubs, etc. but you can certainly cover food and miscellaneous expenses with that kind of money.

When we went last november for 2 weeks we spent about USD6300.
This included, domestic flights, car hire, petrol, accomodation, meals, spending money (includes entry fees and sundry's) and travel insurance.
The break down was as follows.
Domestic flights: 1000
Car hire: 1000 (we hired a convertible at one stage so that really added to the cost)
Petrol: 600
Accomodation: 2100
Meals: 500
Spending money: 1000
Travel insurance: 100
You can get away with way less but we really want to live it up so splurged more on accomodation and car hire.
Thanks Sanbot, thats great. It works out that we have $3130 dollars each for food, drink, trips and general so we should be fine according to your calculations as we already have our accommodation and domestic flights booked x
No problems with that budget - especially if you've already paid for the flights.
