Criminal record and Europe travel

I am travelling to Europe and have a record for theft with cash handling, 10years ago.
I paid my fines straight away and never was jailed for it.
I am not needing a visa anywhere and going from Oz to UK then Eastern Europe and back to Oz.

I filled out a UK arrival card 4 months ago and I'm 80% that's a no.

don't quote me on this but i had theft from employer over 6 years ago was never jailed ect just ordered to pay the money back which i did....how ever i applied for army cadet instructor and i had a police check which came back clear? so i inquired about it and the woman at the station told me for minor offences they only stay on your record for 5 years (not sure how true that is) but i continued to go ahed with army cadet instructor

Thanks for the responses, much appreciated
Are there anymore people who could comment on this... Please help... Trip is in August, and I'm getting nervous already.

Just contact your embassy man.

Yes, i will be this week. Planning to call the French and British embassy. Am going to be doing a Contiki tour, which covers about 9 countries in Europe. Is calling The French and probably the Italian one ok for the Euro countries? Or should I call everyone up?

Well if you're staying in the Schengen you will only go through customs once. So wherever you arrive. Again this is just first opinion. Check into it.

You'll be fine. They don't check stuff like that at customs. Seriously, think about the logistics of it. It takes employers sometimes a week or more to get a check like that done. Now think about all the people who fly in to there. British officers ask a few questions, but nothing about your history. "What are you doing here, what kind of work do you do, how are you paying for this" etc... They aren't even listening to your answers, just listening to how you answer.

When it comes to the actual schengen zone, no one checks anything. In Iberia in particular, they barely look at your passport.

I'm American, for the record.

Has anyone been to England and the following countries - France, Switzerland, Italy, Vatican City, Austria, Germany, Netherlands, Belgium recently?
Do any of the above places ask about criminal convictions on their immigration arrival card?

Please comment if you have recently been.
How was getting through customs like in those countries?
