Train from Singapore to Bangkok

Hi guys,

Hi Nathan,

is your plan to take train from Singapore-Malaysia-Bangkok?.. well..if in Malaysia, there is a few places that u can stop by along the way..

1) Kuala Lumpur
Normally train from Singapore will stop at KL Sentral, so u can explore Kuala Lumpur first before continue your journey.

2) Penang
Take train from KL Sentral to Butterworth Train Station, from there you can take bus / ferry to go to Penang..just a short trip from Butterworth to Penang.. Then from Butterworth. you can take a train to Bangkok..

3) Langkawi
If you dont want to stop at Butterworth, you stop at Arau Train Station/ Alor Setar Train Station and take ferry to Langkawi..

well..just some suggestion

Traveling to Singapore sounds good, sry I don't have any idea about it.

Happy Journey

Hi...

From Singapore, train normally stops at KL Sentral in Kuala Lumpur. As what Lvfry Dan said, you can tour KL for a day or two.

Then on the way to Hatyai, Thailand from KL, you can actually visit Penang as the train will also stop by at Butterworth.

In Hatyai, you can visit the city and also Songkhla. A day or two would be enough I guess. From Hatyai there are minivans to Krabi. If not head straight up to Bkk by train.

Travelling via train from singapore to bangkok, sound good. Must have been a great experience....

Thanks Lvfry Dan and opospa,

This is extremley helpful We plan to go and see Kuala Lumpar for a day or two. We have also looked at getting a ferry or two to some of the islands on the way up to Bangkok. Could you recommened which are the better ones to go to? And also how easy is it to get there?

Many thanks

Nathan

Hi Nathan,

I personally recommend you to go to Pulau Langkawi..it is one of the main attraction island in Malaysia..you can spent like 2 days there as there a lots of places to visit..You can take a night train from KL Sentral to Arau..the train normally leaving at 9.15pm..unless its get reschedule..Sleeper couch sound like a best choice as there is nothing u can see in the dark..so is better to sleep ;D Normally train will arrive at arau station before 8 a.m..you need to take a taxi from Arau station to Jetty Kuala Perlis..

--This review is from Internet ---

At Kuala Perlis, ferries keep departing for Kuah (Langkawi) at approx. The ride lasts for 45 minutes. The landscape is appealing and you wont feel the 50 minutes journey time. The ferry ride ends at Kuah Jetty on the Langkawi Islands and this is located next to Kuah City, the largest market area in Langkawi. The city has lost priority amongst international tourists and this is at the expense of development of plenty of beach resorts on the western part of the Island, namely around the Pantai Cenang and the Pantai Tengah beach region. Nevertheless, Kuah city is a good place for shopping and sea food and also the most reasonable and good accommodation are available in this region only. As you come out of the jetty, you see a big statue of an Eagle which is all set to fly. This is a landmark of this area and one of the most photographed items on the visitors list.

And to continue your journey, just take a ferry from Langkawi to mainland and takes trains from Arau station to Hatyai..as suggested by Opospa
