Samos island seems to be a very nice destination in Greece. I am thinking of going there for holiday this summer. Anyone that has visited the island before?
Any good hotel there?
Hello, I have been in quite many places in Greece and have some friends that have visited Samos. It was a nice destination but not something so special, as there are so many nicer places to visit in Greece.
Generally if I were you, I would not choose this island in the first place.
Have you been in other places in Greece? is it your first time there?
I would recommend you the Ionio Pelagos as a unique destination. All the islands on that side of Greece are unbelievably gorgeous. I have been in Lefkada and Kefallonia and Ithaka and it was wonderful there. Korfu, Zante and Paxoi are a magnificent destination as well.
Likewise, in the Aegean sea there are numerous beautiful islands to visit as Santorini, Milos, Amorgos and many other..

Alexis hi, Samos is a beautiful island , but i agree with Andrea Mar , Ionian islands are really something special, they have these Turquoise waters and green landscapes that are not easily found. I have only been to Zakynthos , but I liked it so much that I'm visiting again this summer!!! I found a villa -snip-, the people were very helpful and accommodating and gave me lots of useful tips.

Samos is a large green island, the people on Samos have kept the old Greek mentality and not everywhere has been spoiled by tourism! Some good organized tourist locations are Vathi, Pithagoreio, Karlovassi, Kokkari, Ayios Konstantinos, Iraion and Kerveli but most of the other areas (towns and cities) are not that organized. I prefer the other areas as you get the idea of the older Greek culture, farming, vineyards, olive trees and much more! There are many beautiful hotels in the tourist areas mentioned above whereas there are not many hotels in other areas. I would vote YES for holidays on Samos.
