Do you want to be involved in a trip of a lifetime?
Sorry didn't realise I was promoting something. Just need a team mate.
If anyone interested then get in touch. What a trip to miss...
Promotion be damned, it sounds a great trip and I hope you find yourself a team.
What a brilliant trip, I've often wished I had the time to do it, so much more interesting than the same old Thailand & Oz that 99% of people post on here about! :-)
What route do you have in mind?
Think I've read that some people track north via Moscow and follow the Trans Siberian railway routes for a bit, while others go through Ukraine.
(I don't think I can escape work to do it, but can't hurt for you to explain in more detail to any potential teammates - and feed my curiosity at the same time!)
Andy,
I plan on doing the Southern Route, down through Czeh Republic, Romania taking in the The Transfagarasan road, goes up crossing the tallest Romanians mountains, called the Fagaras Mountains.
Then down to Turkey, and the ancient city of Myra, may see some Lakes. Crossing borders with Armenia, Azerbaijan. Down through Iran. Then North to Turkmenistan to see if we can find 'The Gates of Hell'. East through Uzbekistan, taking the M41 Pamir Highway into Tajikstan, Kyrgystan. If there is a chance may drive over to the Baikonur Cosmodrome. This is where it maybe possible to see Russian Satellites being put into orbit, all depends on timing.
The last piece of driving proceeds North through Russia then East across the Steppe of Mongolia.
It is all very flexible at the moment.... Should take approx 6 weeks.
So if anyone wishes to come and join get in touch.
Over 23 different countries....
After , we sell the car to the Charity and get a flight or the home. All is very time dependent.
Does anyone wish to join in the fun and an epic adventure?
If someone has the time to put in?
Has anyone got any ideas how I could raise the profile of this?
The Car, bought! Enthusiasm (loads of that)! Fellow driver (not so forthcoming)
Any let me know
You still looking for people mate?
We currently have a team of 3. (Tamir from Mongolia, Steph from UK and myself from UK)
So I think we would have to split into 2 teams of 2. Keep in touch via walkie talkie.
That would mean 2 sets of entrants fee, not sure on cost yet. But having 2 teams would certainly be better camaraderie between team members.
Are you in New Zealand. The route I feel may have changed to not going down through Iran, but North through Kazakhstan.
Keep in touch if your interested.
There maybe some potential rule changes during sign up in August later in the year.
Matt
