Hi There,
Kirstie,
It has been years since I did this route, but here is how it used to work. I went from S'ville to Pattaya in one day via road. Long day I can tell you. talks about this section of my SEA trip. At the Trat bus station there are minivans heading for the border every 30 minutes or so. There maybe a full sized bus as well. Check. Once at the border, walk into Cambodia at the Hat Lek crossing. Fill out the form, photos, pay the fee. The Imm. officials overcharged everyone they could years ago. Not sure now. Should be $20 for a 30 day visa. At the border there are cars and motorbikes to run you into the town of Koh Kong. Bargain with them. At the market in KK, buses and taxis make the run to S'ville or Phnom Penh. $10 for the bus, around 4 hours to S'ville. Most leave around 8am, but there is a noon bus. Check when you get in. I would be over at the Trat bus station as soon as possible. Figure 2 hours from Trat to the KK bus area. If you don't get to KK market by noon, you may have to stay overnight. The boat is no longer running between KK & S'ville. Good luck with your planning.
