I'm planning a trip to Belize in April, first time solo. I'm trying to find some Hostels to stay in and am getting conflicting information from multiple sites. Any advice?
It's a choice of atmosphere. There's a hippie vibe to Caulker...and Sand fleas (which suck). It's a mellow place with lots of lifer ex pats. San Pedro's a little more bustling (as bustling as you can be on a sandbar) and a little more active. There's a bunch of touts and cons there, though. It's something to be aware of. I'm in love with Ruby's Guesthouse and San Pedro as as island. I find the idea of the Chicken Drop to be intoxicating. The Thunderbolt goes there immediately from the mainland....I'd got San Pedro, if it was me..

So would you recommend going to San Pedro at the beginning or end of my trip?
