It's gonna be my first time to visit Italy and I am planning to book my hotel online. What are the websites you recommend that offers affordable hotel accommodations?
, as you're already posting on it?
Many people like to use Booking .com and Venere.com for a few reasons. One reason is that both these sites started targeting there search by city location name which breaks up the search into little bits of each city so you don't have to look at thousands of listings and the 2nd reason is that you don't have to pay for anything in advance you just have to use your credit card to hold the room for you and you pay for the room when you get there.
I would agree with MarkS24. Booking.com is as one of the best choices. I had only experienced once Venere and it was quite good, too. It so easy with these websites. Many hotels give you the choice of a free cancellation, which is very convenient as you can change your mind even 24hours before you go there.. and there are many offers at the last minute. I always choose several hotels with free cancellation policy when I am not sure for the place but I want to book the offer and afterwards, when I get feedback I cancel the ones that are less preferred. Sometimes it happens that there is a new offer with better price at the last minute, so I have to cancel the other bookings..
It seems a little bit complicated, but it's very easy.
good luck!
