I´m going the same route on October. There ´re cheap busconnecitons from the Iguazu Falls to Asuncion. From Asuncion to Santa Cruz it´s a long and hard trip trough the Chaco ( a desert area, where you re more than 500 km from the next civilization) , so deceided to take a plane. It´s not too expenisive ( about 260 USD) , compared to the alternative options. There ´re good bus connections from there to La Paz.
Another idea would be to go from Rio via the Mato Grosso Province ( Brazil) to Santa Cruz.
This area has a better infrastructure.
Thanks, yeah I'll look into flights too. How long would the bus connections take, do you think?
According to my travel books does the bus take
from Foz do Iguazu to Asuncion 7 hours
from Santa Cruz to La Paz 16 ( direct bus connection) to 24 hours
I have no info, but I guess
from Rio to Santa Cruz one day
from Rio to Foz do Iguazu 15-16 hours
