I have only one day in Beijing (visa free) and want to visit Beijing. What is the best way to see as many sites as I can in Beijing?
You can visit Lama Temple, Forbidden City, National Grand Theatre, New CCTV Tower and Silk Market. These are most attractive places in Beijing and they can easily be visited in one day.
you are highly advised to visit Beijing Forbidden City -snip-, the Summer Palace and the Tiananmen Square during your one-day tour in Beijing
Either get a city map or print off some Google maps of where places are in relation to each other. The central area does have a good, if crowded subway system.
Any good tourism site will tell you what is worth seeing there.
China and even Beijing deserves a lot more time. A Chinese visa is not that expensive if you are British but is expensive if you are American. Quite cheap if you can get it yourself but if you go through an organsiation, most will rip you off.

Olympic Park, Temple of Heaven...
too bad you won't have time to go to the great wall
I don't know if this is too late for you but I am going to Beijing soon and also don't have long there so I am taking a day tour to see Forbidden City, Tianeman Square, Temple of Heaven and Summer Palace. I could never cover all that in a day by myself. I've booked with
Beijing Impression -snip-
I think you may not have enough time to visit great wall, the only choice is you can stay around center of beijing and take the subway avoid the rush hour visit the a Forbidden City, National Grand Theatre, New CCTV Tower and Silk Market, Qinghua university, Peking University, etc
