Transfer Between China Southern Flights

Flying China Southern from EDI - AMS - CAN - MEL on 12th September. The stopover at Amsterdam is 1 hour 40 mins and stopover time at Guangzhou is 2 hours 10 mins. The EDI - AMS leg of the trip will be operated by KLM. Few questions as this is my first time dealing with connecting flights and all the hassle that goes along with them:

1. What is my baggage allowance? From looking about online my guess is 1 piece carry-on & one accessorie plus 1 piece check-in not exceeding 20kg.
2. Will my check-in luggage be checked in through to MEL from EDI or will I have to pick it up at CAN and go through customs and recheck the luggage in?
3. If this is the case above, is my 2 hours 10 mins connecting time enough? Heard some horror stories about the transfers in Guangzhou so don't want to risk not giving myself enough time and having to book onto another flight.

Thanks for your help!

I've travelled with China Southern before from LHR - AKL and back. The luggage was automatically be transferred but I didn't have two operators. You should contact KLM or whoever you bought the tickets from to confirm whether you need to collect the luggage and check in again. Normally if you get all of the tickets when you first check-in then the luggage should go to your final destination. But given your transit times, you're not going to have time to collect your luggage and check in again so I would expect the luggage to be transferred automatically. Get travel insurance just in case your luggage does get lost.

As for your transit in CAN, you're not going to have a problem especially if you arrive very early in the morning in Guangzhou since there are not many people around.
