insurance/medical cover etc

Hey I am arriving in Sydney in September and I have been looking for travel insurance, someone suggested a backpackers insurance? im still pretty confused to what to get.

The Mail on Sunday has a good travel section with a number of insurance companies in it.

What are your needs?

Obviously if you are unlucky enough to be injured badly, you want to be flown home. Or get you home if there is some reason for it (it can even be that a family member has been badly injured or whatever)

Or at least to pay any doctor's or hospital bills in Australia.

Also to pay any legal case brought against you. It can happen for the unlikeliest of reasons.

If you are doing anything dangerous like bungee jumping, you must tell them or they will not pay out.

As to lost things, they rarely pay out, as in:

They can help with lost or stolen money, but best to take good care of it in the first place.

Don't skimp on price. Insurance is one of those things we hate paying for but hope we don't get full value out of.
