Hi there,
Hi Mike, we ran a script a while back that should have fixed up most of these photos that went out of whack. When did you find the Gambia / South Africa / Botswana location problems? Was this a while ago, or recently?
Looking specifically at this Sint Maarten one - it stems back to it being a new country. Prior to the change, this one was assigned to the Netherlands Antilles which of course doesn't exist anymore.
It would have been updated properly, buuuuut looking at it now we have an inaccurate ISO code for Sint Maarten in our database and so there was a mismatch that couldn't be resolved resulting in the country being set to 0. I'll see what we can do about that one and check on the other ex Netherlands Antilles countries as well at the same time.

Thanks Peter. I guess all the islands should have either a seperate country page or one altogether like in the past although that would not be geopolitically correct anymore. Saba, St Eustatius and Bonaire on the Netherlands photo page would be kinda strange too though lol.
The Gambia/SA/Morocco stuff (and their neighbouring countries) I just stumbled upon while going through photo galleries of my own and in general also at the featured galleries of Algeria for example. I think there are loads of photos still being in other countries although it's not really obvious for most people unless you check galleries specifically.
cheers

I've corrected the country codes for Sint Maarten and Curaçao because they were both wrong in our system. Saba, St Eustatius and Bonaire all fall under a territory known as Caribbean Netherlands, so those three will be grouped as that.
Just to clarify on the African countries - these ones you found were recent right?

African countries: I don't know: I discovered them recently, but I figure this happened because of the change months ago.
Hmm, if you discovered them recently then it means that the fixer script didn't work correctly. I'm pretty sure these situations should have been picked up on and reverted back to their original countries at the very least.
Checked my photo page, but at the drop down menu, still can't find Sint Maarten, Curacao or Caribbean Netherlands. Same at the .
So although they are give a specific location now, I can not find them, unless I go to my specific photo...which is pretty hard when it's not featured and I have 4,000 of them lol.
sorry for another question...
Cheers
Mike
Hi,
I checked my photos again and now I see Curacao, Saba (Caribbean Netherlands) and also two photos of Sint Maarten. Thanks Peter!
On the other hand, more photos of Sint Maarten I can not find, unless it's featured among which is this . Two are featured, but the ones that are not featured are not be found because I have to go through thousands of photos.
Cheers
Mike
Yeah, we did run a script, it fixed up some images, but not others. There's still too many that are stuck not linked to a country. Also, kind of interesting that the Caribbean Netherlands ones got grouped under Sint Eustatius. This is basically random, because they all three have the same country code and this causes some problems with our logic. Not exactly a normal situation. I might need to remove their individual entries and instead create a new "country" named Caribbean Netherlands to avoid the confusion.
Incidentally, there is also a script running working on fixing up some misplaced trip stops. This should resolve some (hopefully most) of the "why is x country showing up in my stats" issues.

Aha, that explains why at the dropdown menu of my photos, Caribbean Netherlands was under the 'S'...
I will see if I can change locations of some photos that I can find myself as well.
Cheers
Mike
