Hey Brian. That area is packed with really cool restaurants and bars. Try Koya or Bone Daddies in Soho if you like Japanese food or there's a tapas place called which is really romantic. Also, if you like cocktails, try Experimental Cocktail Club (little pricey but really cool!)
That area is massively expensive to stay in but One Leicester Street looks nice and not too expensive. I've booked through before and an apartment might be a little cheaper and spacier

I think you may have hit the nail on the head with 'One Leicester Square'. It looks perfect and its pretty much in my price range.
