people who have travelled Thailand :) ?

hi guys

Thailand is a big country with a very complex weather system so it's impossible to answer your question without knowing where you'll be, but the dry/wet season in the various regions is super easy to Google, there's no mystery.

Have fun.

Cheers,
Terry

I hv been to Thailand during April - may, and I was at Phuket and bangkok, the weather was a mixed and have never faced continuous rain, a little of drizzle and than normal.

Hope it helps you to plan

cheers for your answers guys

"going thailand in may next year for a few months then off to oz.."

A "few months" means a proper visa. Do your homework! From some countries arriving in Thailand by air for a period of 30 days or less you may qualify for a free Visa Exemption. This means a return ticket home from Thailand or a plane ticket out of the country within 30 days. A couple months means a tourist visa.

The weather depends on where you visit and what time. Thailand is a country bigger than the UK. So when it rains in one city you may be 500-700 miles away. Most of the time the rain will stop in a couple hours. Sometimes no rain at all for days at a time. But there are months where rain is more predictable.

I was there until April a couple of years ago. I was in the Islands at that point (Tao, Phangan, Phi Phi, Phuket, Samui) and there was a fair bit of rain some days. But it would stop after a couple of hours MAX and would be dry again in no time, and the beaches full again in minutes! Just make sure you have a decent book to read while youre stuck indoors whilst it rains, and a light rain mac incase you're travelling. I also had a plastic backpack cover too which came in handy! I dont think it will ruin your time there, even if there will be more rain come May/June...

I loved laying in the hammock out the front of my beah hut while it rained, very relaxing.... I MISS IT!

thanks thats gave me some confidence that im not picking the wrong complete time to go haha :p bonus is though it will be cheap in comparison to december

thanks

I spend the whole month of May in Thailand 3 different years. Weather was fine. Sure, it rains sometimes, and sometimes a lot. And it can be insanely hot. But it's nothing to cancel a trip over. The only time the weather was a problem was when I was diving in Ko Tao. The seas were too rough to go out, so I had to wait about 2 weeks for a good day. But it was still sunny most of the time, so those two weeks were spent drinking Chaing and eating Pad Thai on the beach. Can't exactly say it ruined my trip.
I've also traveled to Thailand in August, December, and Feb in other years, and much prefer April - June when it's crazy hot and there are less people around.

hi degolasse

Thanks for your comment im doing some diving there too (getting my padi ). did you enjoy your diving experience in ka tao ? did you just have to stay over whilst the weather got better ?

thanks
