Hey guys!
I'm going to Hanoi on the 28th December and I'm looking to book my accommodation tonight but not sure whats the best area to stay in??
I like to party so will be looking for quite a lively area?
Has anyone got any advice on places?
It's new year I wanna parrrrty :-P
You should know that Hanoi has little nightlife other than beer bars. Most of us prefer the Old Quarter, and my favorite hotel is the 3* on Hang Dieu.
Saigon and Nha Trang have much more nightlife (they also have more crime).

Claire,
I stayed in the Old Quarter and suggest you do as well. You can walk to many restaurants and sightseeing as well. If the above hotel suggestion ($35/night) is out your budget, I would look at the many hostels in the Old Quarter. get on the 'accommodation' , top of this page. You will have plenty of folks ready to party if you choose a hostel. Save money on your room and spend it on sightseeing & nightlife. They will help with what to see/do, tours and onward transport as well.
Good luck with your planning.
Agreed - the Old Quarter. We stayed in the Little Hanoi Hotel in Hang Ga - great little place, very helpful owners, $25 for a double en suite room (but that was four years ago) and they have cheaper hostel accommodation too.
Hi Claire,
I know some 3 stars Hotel in Hanoi old quarter will open the party to celebarate new year for custommer.
Let me know, how long will you stay & how much for your burget? I will recommend for you
Depending on your budget you can choose a hotel in the old town (Hang Bac Street, Hang Gai Street, Hang Chieu Street, Hang Ma Street, etc). In Hanoi the nightlife is not as rich as in Saigon, instead you will discover the uniqueness of the night market, street cuisine, take cyclo tour 36 streets.
Good luck.

You're going to Hanoi in the end of this year? awesome. The weather at this time is quite perfect.
I'm living in Hanoi as well. Please inform me if you need a free tour guide. I have just come back to Vietnam from Australia, and quite interested in talking with foreigner visitors.

Not long back from a from in hanoi. Stayed in various backpackers. Maydeville is by far the best. It's a hotel that also had dorms and an amazing common room and inclusive all you can eat breakfast. In the old quarter too. Just google May de ville. Cheap and high standard. All the other hostels are pretty grim and loud
Is that this Leona?
