Indonesia or the Philippines

Hey

Seeing as you are on Borneo you are either already in Indonesia or just a short border crossing away. If your question then relates to which other Indonesian islands you should visit, I would say the Gili Islands off Lombok are a good option. If you're looking for idyllic locations but easier to get to, try the Philippines.

Good luck with your planning!

Indonesia is better, Bali, Komodo Island, Raja Ampat, just to name a few if you like beautiful scenery.

GIli off Lombok is also nice, personally I would go to the east starting from Bali all the way to Komodo Dragon via Flores.

Indonesia is better

Have you been to both?

Both Indo and Phillipines have there merits, personally i loved island hopping in the Phillipines, but at the moment there seems to be simmering political tensions, especially in the southern islands.

As Kellie rightly pointed out, Indo is more logical for you en-route to Aus.

Enjoy.

One of the best in Philippines is Palawan Island. Vast marine sanctuary, very nice people, and delicious food at a cheaper price. I've stayed in Coron Palawan few years back and it was a fantastic experience. Best beach in the country is Boracay. Pristine and finest sand, friendly tourists and natives, night life, adventure in Paraw (sailing boat) and great food as well!

I think you should visit Indonesia instead of Philippines. Indonesia is heaven on earth...Anyone should not miss a visit to Indonesia.

Indonesia for sure. Indonesia is one of heaven country in the world.
You can visit Jakarta, Bali, Lombok and others city in Indonesia.
You can go shopping in Jakarta.
I visit Jakarta and spend 4 nights for business.
I stay at 4 stars hotel (fm7 resort hotel) which is near to the airport and i go to the downtown to see what happen in Jakarta.
Cheap price for shopping, travelling and accommodation also.
