Hello,
Jump on Avianca and you're there less than 4 hours later...
Cheers,
Terry
I specifically said by bus. I know I can fly but not wanting to fly due to the high cost. I said by bus (land travel). Next time please read before you post.
Sorry I misunderstood, English isn't my first language. You said you didn't want to enter Peru or Bolivia by bus, I thought you might be afraid of border crossings. Nowhere in your post do you state specifically that you want to do the entire trip by land.
Good luck with your plans.
Cheers,
Terry
I'm not saying this can't be done but it might take an eternity. What you're saying is you want to get from Bogota to La Paz overland via Brazil (that's the only other way if you avoid Ecuador and Peru). First I suggest you type in Rurrenabaque on Google maps to see where that is. By bus from La Paz, it's 18 hours for USD7 - cheap price but expensive time-wise. And Rurrenabaque is just 243km from La Paz as the crow flies and not even half way from La Paz to the Brazilian border. But it is just a 35 minute aeroplane ride.
Looking at a map, there doesn't seem to be any roads from Bogota to the Brazilian border so you might need to do that by boat (Rio Caqueta/Rio Japura). Then continue down either the Rio Negro or the Rio Solimoes to Manaus in northern Brazil. From there, there is a road through Porto Velho to Epitaciolandia on the Brazil/Bolivia border. Then head to Riberalta, then Rurrenabaque and then La Paz. This is all assuming there is transport availale down these routes. Looking at the maps, it'll probably take you at least ten days and then certainly cost more than a direct air flight from Bogota to La Paz - your choice!!
Please post again to let us know how you get on - we can't wait to hear.
