Planning on doing this trip in November and staying in Australia for about a year in general.
Regarding the job I would say difficult unless you find some very seasonal or event based work. Just think about how likely someone back home would be to give you a job for just four weeks...
Most retail/hospitality trial periods for a new job in Australia are three months but maybe you're looking at a different industry.
