Vietnam - Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi

Hey Guys,

Hey!
I traveled Vietnam for 1 month last year and I absolutely loved it. Something I didn't realise is just how long it takes to get from one city to the next. The population of Vietnam is around 90 million people and, even though most people drive mopeds, there is a lot of traffic. It can take up to 12 hours to get from one city to the next. I recommend taking the night buses (unless you're over 6 foot tall then it's not very comfortable).
Nha Trang is filled with as many Russians as locals and Halong Bay has 10 times as many tourists than Vietnamese but both places are a lot of fun, just really not Vietnamese at all. Hoi An is a beautiful city and you can spend days walking around the lovely streets. Hue I was very disappointed with - a lot of the historical buildings were destroyed during the American War so really not a lot left to look at.
You'll get enough city and history in HCMC and Ha Noi, Nha Trang has great beaches, Ha long has great parties and Hoi An has nice culture. Try to stay at HQ Cafe Hostel in Nha Trang - was a great place to stay; might have to book a day in advance though.
O.J.
