I'm thinking in Europe too, in August...
I'm my humble opinion, you need a cronogram......some kind of walkthru....
In the early stages of planning, try to make focus in places you want to know, if you have many, make some diferent ones, and choose carefully, based in the parameters you already choose...
If you choose Interrail Pass, try to plan the travelling period for afternoon ( you can save the acomodation cost with this tactic, but this depend of the duration of the travel, of course..rsrss no valid for shirt trips, where you barely take a nap!!!!)
Well, with a good plan, you make sure you trave have a 80 percent or more probability to be a sucess!!!.. but in the same time try to do not be too bounded to the plan, because imadiate changes always happens, in my own experience outside...
