Hey, so I've been in Oz for about 4 months now, looking to get started on my farm work to try and save some money, but that's where I'm struggling.
There is a town called Shepparton in Victoria that often has lots of fruit picking on orchards and dairy farm work around, this includes its surrounding areas like Mooroopna, Ardmona and Tatura. I am not sure about local hostels organising work, but it might be a good place to check out for a start
