I'm planning a 2 week holiday for my family for next summer. We're planning on visiting 3 destinations (Denmark, Netherlands, and Germany). I am looking for tips on must-sees and ways to keep the trip budget-friendly. I look forward to hearing about your experiences and feedback.
As for top to-do things for Germany I would include Neuschwanstein castle, Munich beer gardens, Berlin, Mercedes-Benz and Porsche museums in Stuttgart.. and enjoying German food and beer... and so much more..
'Must sees' are defined by the individual's interests. There are no universal must sees. Budget friendly depends on what your budget is. You have said nothing about either one. The more relevant info you include when asking a question, the more relevant the responses will be. Otherwise all you get is what other people consider a must see or OK for their budget.
Why did you pick those 3 countries? You must have some reason for doing so and presumably, those reasons are based on your interests.

Hi OldPro. My interests are hiking, history, books, art and design, good beer and cheese. By budget I mean free to super cheap. We chose Denmark because my husband's family is from Bornholm and we'd like to learn more about the culture. The Netherlands made the list because I used to travel to Amsterdam often for work, but haven't seen much outside of the city centre. And Germany just sounds amazing.
By the way, Shawn, how are you going to travel? If you're travelling by plane, some tips for you to make the trip budget friendly.
It's better to stay flexible about your travel dates. Choose off-season or at least shoulder-season months. Book weekday flights (those on Fridays and weekends are usually very expensive). And consider stop-over flights.
Low cost carriers offer great deals, but mind extra expenditures for the luggage check-in.
Booking well in advance is the best option, you'd better not put all the arrangements off!

Well you have chosen 3 countries where your interests can easily be satisfied but your budget, not so much. No N. European country is 'free to super cheap.'
The average backpacker 'doing Europe' can expect to spend 50-60E per person per day. That is for a hostel dorm bed, supermarket food and the odd museum entry or beer (and I do mean the odd beer, not beer nights). It does not include transportation. So how does that stack up to your idea of what 'super cheap' means?

I don't see any Breweries in that list but Brewery visits used to be a great way to get a free sample or two. ( not on your list but the Bacardi Distillery in Peurto Rico used to give two free drinks before their free tour.)
I like to eat or drink products named for the place e.g Cheddar Cheese in Cheddar, drink Sherry in Jerez, so Edam cheese was a must for me in Edam, not too far from Amsterdam. The REGIONAL bus pass available in Amsterdam gets you out to Edam as well as a lot of the area in & outside Amsterdam - it was not too expensive.

Hi Cadice. We're going to fly from the States and then take the train to each area. Booking flights well in advance has been a good tip. We found flights from California to Denmark for less than $300. Thanks for the tips!
Old Pro, thank you for the feedback. 50-60E a day is less than what we have budgeted so that's good. We'll be traveling outside of the peak travel season so costs will be lower. The weather won't be as warm, but the crowds will also be smaller.

If you only have 2 weeks time to visit three countries I would propose to only visit one or max two cities per country. For germany I could definitely recommend to go to Berlin especially regarding your interest. It comibines a lot of history with art/design, and they have also very good beer bars there

What I can recommend you is to go on a sunday to Mauerpark, its a park full of music, artists, a karaoke show and a Flea/food market.
If you wanna have a good hike, go the Brocken or in gerenal the the Harz region. Its about 300km away from berlin.
