I'll be staying five nights in Berlin this summer and I've never been. I was wondering if anyone had some suggestions for areas to stay, visit, party etc. I am a man in my mid twenties traveling solo, with some flexibility in terms of budget. I'm not shoe stringing it by any means, but I would like to keep my expenses moderate. Thanks.
Berlin is very big and spread out, I would suggest you stay in a hostel or hotel with direct access to the S or U network.
Friedrichstrasse is not too bad and the area around Hallesches Tor has some good points too.
For hostels check out Three Little Pigs, Meininger (Hallesches Ufer and Tempelhofer Ufer), Heart of Gold, baxpax, citystay berlin Mitte.
If you want a budget hotel room check out the Meininger at Tempelhofer Ufer and some of the hotels around Alexanderplatz.
As for party, join the legendary pub crawl:

Go on the free tour with them and you get a discount on the pub crawl.
I live in a city not too far away from Berlin and I am there quite often. Unfortunately I am not a party girl, so I cannot help with that. But feel free to contact me.
