Me and my girlfriend are heading off for our trip round the world in September...and if you 2 are anything like us you cant wait to get going!...I have looked in to a few companies but nothing that cheap...It does look a really good price, but you should look what is included in your insurance in case of problems if that looks good then I would say book it before you lose that price...I think depending on where you are going the price also changes. We are going S.E Asia OZ NZ and S. America so we need all over but you may not?

(27)...we are going to almost the same places as you, except we are spending 4 months in India before SE Asia...what sort of insurance quotes have you been getting? Have you decided on which one to go with yet?

the cheapest without discount or anything was booking as a couple through insure and go it was around £130 ish each...I am lucky though as I am a member of fitness first and get a discount with insure and go so ours went down to £100 each...oddly enough we actually already have annual cover with insure and go through her parents so we are hoping that we can upgrade our policy and get it cheaper than this. if not then we will probably go with the £100 each. but I am still on the hunt. if you find any let me know!...your original alphan price still seems your best bet i guess...how long you off for in total?

Insurance - I have just booked 12 month cover with Direct Line 371 for me and partner, not the cheapest but certainly not the most expensive. Although the full cover doesn't start until beginning of August we are covered from now if anything goes pear shaped with flight company! It seems pretty comprehensive cover.
We are covered to do one bungee jump, as if you would wanna do any more than one eh?

Im jealous u only have 15 weeks I still have 19 till i finish work and 21 until I go!..bought my first few items for travelling at the weekend and now am giddy as ever to go!
You said not cheapest but not most expensive? would u mind sharing what they quote in total for you and your partner.

Please always check what you're covered for. Cheap policies quite often have a lot of 'Get out' clauses that avoid them paying out in the case of a claim. Cheapest is so often not the best.
If you're doing a RTW, then you need everything you can get on your policy, from cancelled flights to private hospital treatment in the case of picking up a tropical disease in a poor country. It's well worth the extra money.
For the cost of a meal and a few beers, pay the extra.

We brought the Alpha backpacker insurance last year and will definitely use them for the trip we are planning (for hopefully-funds allowing) Christmas this year. We unfortunately had to use the emergency assistance number (nothing serious) and they were brilliant. Got to speak to a doctor who was able to point us in the right direction and even followed up a few days later to make sure we were okay.

hey guys...big thanks for all the responses, after some deliberation we have actually decided to go with insure and go...purely because, once I had added on some of the fee's for including additional activities cover then the prices were almost the same, also, was offered 10% discount when I requested the quote so going to go with them...
