Pharmacies and chemists normally have a book which tells you what vaccines you need for any part of the world. It does not hurt to check on the area on the internet for any new diseases there. Where are you going in Thailand? In Bangkok, I never bother.
Your biggest problem will probably be mosquitoes. Buy some insecticide and a spray around last thing at night helps. Mosquito netting where necessary. Cover up and be careful in evenings when out and about since that is when mosquitoes are about too. With malaria pills make sure you start and finish on the dates given since the parasites may remain in your body some time after you arrive home.
Don't go near any animals, be careful of any uncooked fruit or vegetables which may have been washed in local water, and only drink bottled water.
Not knowing your health history, it's really hard to judge what vaccinations you may need.
Tetanus is a must. Your booster should be current, before you leave the house!
Hepatitis A is probably the second most important consideration. Because of the proper use of Thai toilets, it can be easily spread.
Hepatitis B is next. If you wind up at a hospital, it would be good to have been vaccinated.
Typhoid is a lessor concern. Although it still exists, it is actually uncommon.
Unless you are planning extended border trekking, Malaria is not a concern. Dengue, however is, even more in the cities than the countryside. As stated before, cover up and/or use a repellent. There is no Dengue vaccine.
Eat food hot-off-the-grill. This is especially important at this time of year. The intense heat simply helps bacteria grow faster.
Bottled water is a must.
