Buenos Aires is such a beautiful and dynamic city!
After you've had a tango lesson, visited La Boca and succussfully crossed 9 de Julio a few times, kick back in Tigre. After a few weeks in Urugay, I returned to BA the slow way and took an early boat from Colonia de Sacramento to Tigre, where I spent a wonderful day walking up and down the boardwalks, taking water taxis and generally enjoying urban tropical life. And it's just a train ride from the center of BA.
top experiences in Buenos Aires:
a. Antiques fair on Sunday at San Telmo (I think it's at Plaza Dorrego). Definitely try and catch the tango dude that dances with a doll. He is hysterical.
b. Madres de Mayo at 3:30 p.m every Thursday outside Casa Rosada
c. Caminito street at La Boca. Loved the street tango here.
d. Recoleta Cemetery and just the neighborhood in general
e. I actually really liked the walk along the docks at Puerto Madero
Hope this helps. Majorly ticked off that I missed attending a milonga.
Pranav
I absolutely loved watching the tango in Plaza Dorrego one Sunday night. It was a public holiday the next day and the dancing went on well into the early hours. It was such a fantastic atmosphere.
- Walking around the residential areas of Villa Crespo, Caballito, Boedo and Barrcas
- Seeing real tango up town, with few other tourists around (there's a couple of milongas in Saavedra and Belgrano, check )
- Taking random bus lines and see where they take you
- Experience city life by walking up and down Corrientes avenue in the evening
- Visiting a transitorio with your partner
Meeting the local people.
Ive made so many friends who live in Buenos Aires who i class as family.People who hardly knew me at the time took me into their family home for xmas and new year and even bought me presents.
I will never forget how friendly people are there.
Then theres a Boca game, attempting a tango lesson where i was the only gringo among 150 argentinians and walking along the hussle and bustle of Avenida Florida.
I am so tired of Asia... I am vegetarian, but when I get to Argentina, I'll have a steak. That should be in 6 months.
I'll be singing, "I want to be a part of BA, Buenos Aires, Big Apple." in a crowded bus to the Casa Rosada.
Palermos: Plaza Serrano... Really fun
