Hi guys,
Top of Cerro San Cristobal. Good hike, great view. Great neighbourhood to start and end in. Bella Vista.
Have a drink at the really cool Bar Berri, which is close to the centre.
The museums are all free on Sunday.
Not much else. I found Santiago, after a year living there, to be boring as shit.
boyfriend and I only have a few days in Santiago as well, these options sound brilliant... we're looking at snowboarding there too... any suggestions?
Sights
- The Pablo Neruda house is pretty cool, I enjoyed it.
The National History Museum (Museo Histórico Nacional) Santiago, Chile is a nice survey of the country. The museum timeline eerily ends in 1973 with a small case with the famous glasses of president Allende. A docent told me the country isn't ready to talk about what happened after the government was overthrown. Wow.
Accomodation
I really liked Casa Roja (sorry, don't recall address). Huge, sprawling house with a big kitchen, lots of places to lounge and a nice courtyard. Very backpacker friendly and great place to get advice for your next destination.
Thanks any more ideas....accommodation too
I would say, for two days....Your best bet is Hotel Londres on Calle Londres...Right in the centre and pretty cheap.
Oh, that is the other thing...Santiago is not a cheap place. You should not be surprised to find a four dollar beer.
The metro is easy to use and a bus from the airport connects with it. I had a good run out of town on it to a large shopping mall. The history museum is tiny but OK. Two art galleries, one opposite the train museum.
