Hi everyone,
"... I can't help but fear that I'm going to get kidnapped..."
======================
First of all, stop reading/listening to old news that's years and years and years out of date.
Colombia is an absolutely fabulous destination and with the usual common sense and street smarts most areas of the country are considerably safer than many other parts of Central/South America.
Cheers,
Terry
Thanks for the response Terry.
Any other suggestions, anyone? At the moment I'm leaning towards going to both..... Looks like some super-long bus journeys are in order!

I lived in Colombia for two years. I loved every second of it......It has terrific and varied places to go. It has the Caribbean. It has cheap living and great beer and beautiful women. It doesn't take that long to fly there. They have very clear Spanish. They have great music.
Argentina has SOME of those things. Go to Colombia. Stay away from the Gap and the Western Jungle. The Americas just had a meeting in the town where I lived. Obama is staying in the place where I used to go to the gym....It can't be that dangerous. Colombia, absolutley.
"... Columbia is not dangerous at all..."
==========================
That is not true. You have to use common sense and street smarts everywhere in Central/South America, Colombia included.
Cheers,
Terry
PS Note correct spelling of country name. There's no "u" in Colombia.
It is in my experience that you regret the things you haven´t done more than the things you have.
Take the plunge, go to Colombia and I hope you have fun!
I will be in Colombia myself soon and know many who have visited, I have heard nothing but positive experiences.
Colombia !!
Although, I'm loathe to say I can't speak from experience - Having travelled to most countries in Latin America but having missed out on Colombia I regret it. Everyone (without exception) who I know who has travelled in Colombia raves about it. I'm currently in Peru but I know I need to arrange time to visit Colombia soon.
I agree with Nayzee and Rebel - try something new ..... Argentina isn't going anywhere if you want to return one day !!
Carolyn.
Thanks everyone.
I've taken your advice and decided on COLOMBIA!
I'm flying into Bogota in 1.5 weeks (leaving May 3).
I'm terrified. But that's probably a good thing.
If anyone will be around at that time, we should hang out! PM me!
