Hey. I am currently a 21 year old student with big dreams of returning to the USA and travelling from the West to the East coast.
I studied in Virginia for a year and I fell in love with the East Coast, but I have never gone any further than West Virginia, and I'd love to see more of the country that I love so much.
Have you asked about one way charges? If you pick it up in Seattle and drop it off in Orlando, the company then has to pay a driver to drive it back to it's base in Seattle.
Yeh I know about those, but sometimes the convenience in renting over buying is worth the extra money. That's why I'm asking for advice though, cause I don't know which is easier x
Beci,
I see you are under 21. Most rental companies add a surcharge for being under 25. This can take the rental option off the table IMO. If you have read any of my older posts, You will see I recommend renting if members are in the US for 2 months or less. Buy if over 2 months. With your age and drop off fees, buying a vehicle is your better option IMO.
I have helped 12 TP members buy vehicles here in Vegas. If this sounds like something you might want to pursue, send me a PM.
Hey vegasmike, I wouldn't be doing this trip any time soon, I'm only just starting to save for it do it'd be a few years yet. I just need to know hich is the better option overall, because I wouldn't be flying into Vegas, but Seattle.
Hi becimarie,
There are so many options in the US.
I recommend that you drive from Salt Lake City to Jackson, Wy where you can see the Grand Tetons National Park and then Yellowstone National Park is nearby. Then drive east to Rapid City, SD where you will be near such attractions as Mt. Rushmore, Badlands National Park, Custer State Park, Spearfish Canyon, and Deadwood. From there you can head south to Oklahoma City. If you added this, Roswell, NM would be the only place you would miss on your itinerary.
Whatever you decide, have a great trip.
