I'm Ben from Ottawa, Ontario - It all depends where in Canada you will be located. Bigger the city the better chance you will find work I think. In Toronto or Montreal, you could easily find a ' temp summer' job waitressing or something in the restaurent industry. In Ottawa, I suggest to look for tourist stuff, like city guide or museum guide and such.
Overall, it's not impossible to get a part time job but you migh thave to be persistant. Although we love the Aussies, so there's a bonus point for you there!
