Hi - am fairly experienced traveller, backpacking mainly, am currently in Peru ....... but, I think as my forties are setting in I have a hankering for a longheld dream of mine - to visit Montana. I have to be honest though - there are only 2 reasons why this dream exists before I start to seriously consider it - please don't mock me (!!).....
The opening scenes were shot on the Charles River in Massachusetts and the Rogue River in Oregon got some film time too, but yes, the hero footage is mostly the Kootenai and Flathead Rivers in Montana.
Montana is indeed beautiful, no doubt about it, but the entire American northwest (and the neighbouring provinces of Alberta and British Columbia in Canada) have lots of the same geography and are all spectacular too.

I think I need to scrub up on my knowledge (being English !!) of the neighbouring US and Canadian states to see whether I should be including them in my research - I'll check out the websites you quoted ..... however the Harley may be stretching it for me .... purely brand based bias I have to add !!
I wonder whether I should challenge myself to ride a Harley after a lifetime of riding Japanese bikes ??!!
Anyway, I really appreciate the response and have been doing some "googling" since I made the post and am starting to get really motivated about it ........ maybe need to fatten up my wallet though, as you said !
