Hey!
Hostelbookers, hostelworld, lowcostholidays and the like for fairly cheap accommodation (but still expensive in some places). Public transport is quite good there, for commuting.
Work. Unless you have a needed skill it could be months before you get any so take plenty of money to survive on till then. You can try work online agencies some months before going. You will of course need a work visa.
Living out there is pretty much the same as living in the UK and sorting out any minor problems as they come up.
Decide where you want to go. Big towns like Sydney have the best chances of jobs, but may not be the best place to live.
Hey amy.
Im also planning to travel to oz feb/march time next year, currently saving like crazy!
Plan is to save enough for a little site seeing but try to secure a job before i head out there to boost funds to travel along the coast. I have no family or close friends out there so its a big adventure for me too.
I have spent the last few weeks instead of working (which is what i should be doing now shhh) but looking into the simpe stuff that will need sorting i.e visa's bank accounts, flights etc.
I would suggest to do the same. It really helped me realise what i needed to do and how much to save. I kinda pretended i was heading out this year and planned everything (im normally a last minute person so this was major progress :-)
It really helped me know what needed to be done and how long things take like visa's and flights to different cities.
Hope this helps a little. PM me if you need any more info
hey im thinking at going over in march next year to.
add me on facebook if you would want a travel partner
Hey,
I should be arriving in Aus March/April 13 after travelling SEA, I have no friends or family out there and going alone so im the same position as you, having a travel partner would make things feel so much easier i'm sure (feeling nervous about it now so imagine whats its like in a years time...) not sure how much il need so just saving and saving until I leave for SEA
All I know is you need a working holiday visa and need to set up a bank account, all I hear is everyone say when your out there its easy to set one up so thats what i'm going on
I have no idea where to go first, where to stay and how to commute but I know I want to travel the east coast

It's a pretty scary thought travelling on my own! Ha, you know where your going to start off? I'm thinking Brisbaine!
It was pretty easy to get the working visa! - just on a mission of saving and researching and mapping my route now! Bye bye social life for the next year! Haha
Nope no idea where to start, thinking brisbaine or perth seeing as its a popular place which most people start at.
working visas seem easy to get but yeh same as me just saving up now
I will PM you now.
Brisbanie from me making my way round the Perth!
