So, my buddy and I have planned to go on the PCT this June. But during my cross-country backpacking trip, I got a job on a farm in Versailles, MO. Before I left, they told me about the harvest and how if I would like to, I can join them. I would be able to earn money as I get a free ride from Oklahoma all the way to Montana this summer.
I got back couple of weeks ago and they gave me a ring about the harvest.
Seems to me this also depends on just how badly you need that money? You also don't want to disappoint your buddy - only you know how serious those plans were. I tend to go with PCT - is June the best time for the trail (June heat, crowds?) Maybe this is because this is something that I never got a chance to do myself.
No one can tell you what to do - if you can afford it, I say go for the trip.
