Getting started on the Pacific Crest Trail

Hello,
My buddy and I are leaving for the PCT on June 16, going southbound.
I am just starting to reserve amtrak tickets to get into Washington, but I am not sure how to get right on to the trail head. We are planning on starting in Harts Pass, but we are not sure on which way is the fastest/most efficient way to get there.
I was thinking maybe take a bus or something from Spokane, WA? Or is there a closer train station to Harts Pass? or maybe even a bus station via the amtrak?
Could anyone give me some tips/info about this?
