Hey guys
I'm slowly planning my trip to oz on a working holiday visa for one year. I was supose to be going with a friend, but they have recently let me down Im now even more scared than ever going alone. I'm hoping to go in November, as of yet I'm not even sure where I'm going to start my trip be it in Sydney or Perth. Is there anyone else heading out there in November?? I'd love to speak or hear from people in a similar position as myself. :/ thanks
Hi V, I'm kinda in the same position as you... I'm 23, recently graduated in May, and slowly planning out my trip to oz alone. I would be going on a working holiday visa too. I was thinking of going November-early January, honestly just depends how much money I can save up by then and be ready to go. I've been trying to find different work and travel programs, (I've really looked at Smaller Earth and Ultimate Oz) that could help me with the process, but also help with finding or accomodating a place to live while I'm there. I'm sure some hostels are great to stay in when traveling to other cities, but I doubt someone would want to live in one the entire time they were in Australia. I'm trying to decide between starting out in Sydney or Melbourne. I'm really scared to go, but even more so because its by myself and yeah... I don't even know where to begin.

Hey Katie, thanks for writing back, I've never used one of these before! I'm so pleased to hear that I'm not the only one completely pooping my pants.....haha. Ideally I'd like to go later than November so that I have more money but I'm worried that if I put it off any longer I won't go. I'm taking £3500 with me and hoping to get more working along the way. I'm hoping that if I settle in one of the cities along the way and get a decent job there might be a few others that want to rent an appartment. Ive also looked at the ultimate oz website you should deffinately take a look at the iz intro website (it all seems cheaper) they help with jobs too. Where are you travelling from? Just think how weird it would be if it works out were only up the road from each other!! Keep me posted on all of your plans, I'm going to need the help
Well done Stacey!! You've made me even more nervous with your organisation :/ haha!! Eeeek. How long have you booked your first hostel for? My friends that have been travelling around oz before have already told me I need to make sure I've booked till Xmas as they get so busy.
I've booked 8 days for when I land and 11 days over Christmas! I'm so excited, never thought I'd be going to be honest! I'm hoping to take about £11,000 and work on my 2nd year. hey V, yeah i've never used this kinda thing before either... just kinda came across the blog when I was researching the different programs to make sure they were well recommended and legit. I'm coming from Maryland, USA. I was planning on doing a program like ultimate oz or oz intro, but after reading some posts here I'm not sure if its just a waste a money or what. I'm trying to figure out pricing and see if its worth it or if I should just do the visa, sim card, bank account, tax id, ect on my own. I'm still totally nervous, but it makes me feel a little better seeing on here a lot of people go alone and like me, are looking for other people to befriend on their travels. I'm thinking the same as you, my ideal is I get there, stay in a hostel for about a week just meeting people, exploring the first city I'm in, getting settled and finding a job... then I hope to meet some cool people who would want to rent an apartment for a little while and do some traveling also. Yeah I was definitely thinking November but I'm a waitress and our busiest months are October-December... so it would be smart to stay, work, and save more money then go early January... Plus, I'd get there right in time for summer Definitely keep me posted on your plans as well... I'll be needing some help too! haha
Hey carol. Oh me too! I have exactly the se plan in mind as you. I will write down all of the places I want to see and do, but hoping to winging it a bit. Meet people, see where there going ect.
